Itinerary

Day 1Airport – Colombo

Arrival and transfer to Colombo, in the afternoon do Mark Forbes city walk tour in Colombo at 4.30 pm.

Colombo – the trade and commercial capital has long been the traditional gateway to the Orient. Sri Lanka’s largest city, it is located on the west coast and draws together all the cultures, religions and influences of foreign lands into a pot-pourri of sounds, smells and a kaleidoscope of colour.

Day 2Colombo – Anuradhapura

After breakfast pick up the guests at about 9 am & transfer to Anuradhapura en route visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage – set amongst the verdant hills of Kegalle is a unique orphanage, where the tiny tots weigh 60 kg or more. This is the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, the world’s first and only elephant orphanage established to feed, nurse and house young elephants lost or abandoned by their mothers.

Day 3Anuradhapura

After breakfast pick up the guests at about 9 am & proceed to Anuradhapura for sightseeing of the UNESCO World Heritage Sacred city of Anuradhapura.

Anuradhapura – Anuradhapura – a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the north central part of the Island was the first capital (5th century BC – 9th century AD), the centre of the island’s Buddhist civilization and undoubtedly the grandest city of ancient Sri Lanka. In antiquity and the interest, it is the equal of any ancient ‘buried city’ in the world

Day 4Anuradhapura – Dambulla

After the breakfast at the hotel pick up the guests at about 9 am & transfer to visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress &Dambulla Cave Temple.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress – which is a world heritage site, built by king Kashyapa (473 – 491 A.D). The “lion rock” is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 meters from the scrub jungle.

Dambulla Rock Temple – was built by king Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C. Dambulla is a world heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples.

Day 5Dambulla - Polonnaruwa –Dambulla

After B’ fast pick up the guests at about 9 am & proceed to Polonnaruwa to do a city tour. Later on return to the hotel in Dambulla..

Polonnaruwa – is the 2nd capital of Sri Lanka. Built in the 11th and 12th centuries A.D, and is a world heritage site. Here you can see the ruins of the RoyalPalace, the Gal Viharaya (3 splendid statues of the Buddha in upright, sedentary and recumbent postures carved out of rock).

Day 06Dambulla - Kandy

After B’ fast pick up the guests at about 9 am & proceed to Kandy.

Kandy – The last capital of the Sri Lankan kings which is a world heritage site. The name Kandy conjures visions of splendor and magnificence. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive.

Day 07Kandy

After B’ fast pick up the guests at about 9 am & do a site seeing and city shopping tour of Kandy including Temple of Tooth Relic &Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden.

Peradeniya – Botanical Gardens was first built as a pleasure garden by a Sinhala king and was expanded by the British. it is 147 acres in extent and provides an amazing variety of trees, plants and flowers.

Day 08 Kandy - Bandarawela

After breakfast pick up the guests at about 9 am & proceed to Bandarawela by train, rest of the day at leisure.

Day 09 Bandarawela

Breakfast at the hotel and enjoy the wonderful environment while relaxing at the hotel.
Evening do a site walk at the town.

Day 10 Bandarwela – Galle

After Breakfast pick up the guests at about 9 am & proceeds to Galle. Drop at the hotel at about 4 pm in the evening. Rest of the day at leisure.

Galle – was once the chief port of Ceylon as Sri Lanka was named by the British. It is still well known for hand-made lace, tortoise shell curios and ebony elephants. You can also visit the Galle fort (spanning 90 acres), which was originally built by the Portuguese and later extended by the Dutch in 1663. This is a world heritage site.

Day 11 Galle

After Breakfast pick up the guests at about 9 am & proceeds to Galle to do city tour in Galle.
Optional – do water sports

Day 12 Galle – Bentota

After breakfast pick up the guests at about 11 am & proceed to Bentota.

Bentota – situated on the south west coast, at the confluence of the sea and the Bentotariver, the sun drenched location and its golden, palm-fringed beaches which border the warm, sparkling waters of the Indian Ocean made it a natural choice for development as the first tourist resort.

Day 13 Bentota

After breakfast pick up the guests at about 10 am & proceed to do a Madhu river boat ride.

Madu River -which flows across Balapitiya (approx 80kms down south from Colombo) is one of the rarely visited and unspoiled attractions any nature lover can find in Sri Lanka.

Day 14 Bentota

Full day leisure at the hotel,
(Optional) Proceed to enjoy water sports.

Day 15Departure – Bentota – Colombo Airport

Breakfast at the hotel, and transfer to the airport for departure.
